MySolution

 

I deliberately dropped headers from xls spreadsheets as it makes more sense to me not to store them in analysis.

To achieve the same result as in the author's solution it would required to adjust formula for rows selection from 2 & 8 to 1 & 7 respectively.

 

I kept 2&8 as in the original exercise description, hence results are slightly different. but this solution works better for me,
