My solution:

I chose to replace the multicharacter tags for rows / columns to a single pipe --> |
This character is not that usual in HTML, so it seemed a safe bet. First, parse to rows. Then, filter only lines with the </td> end tag. Then, I decided to be lazy and use some sample tools and a join to combine the correct lines based on position.
