Hi All,
A massive apology for the delay in getting the recap from the latest London Alteryx User Group to you. Well, what a night it was! For our 20th user group in London we were back at the Alteryx offices in Old Street and we had a fantastic turnout – one of our biggest to date. For those that couldn’t attend, and for those that want to relive the experience, details of what was covered in this session are below.
Joe kicked the night off with some of the latest insights from the Alteryx Community followed by some fantastic presentations from our presenters.
Industry User Groups
Alteryx has now introduced some additional user groups which are focused to particular industry areas. There are currently 4 active industry user groups focusing on the following areas:
It has just been announced that the Public Sector user group is coming soon. If you would like to become more involved or have a use case that you wish to share please contact Cshernaman@alteryx.com For more information check out the community hub and click on the Industry/Departmental tab: https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Join-an-Alteryx-User-Group/ct-p/usergroups
It’s time to get certified!
Alteryx now offers a certification which consists of 3 different levels: Alteryx Designer Core, Alteryx Designer Advanced and Alteryx Designer Expert. The first 2 levels are now available ON DEMAND and are free of charge. Once you have successfully completed both these levels, the highest level of certification, Alteryx Designer Expert, is available for only $150!! Inspire Europe 2019
Inspire Europe will be returning to the Tobacco Docks on 14th October. Alteryx will be calling for speaker submissions shortly so if you have a story to share with the wider community then watch this space…
Rafal Olbert – Data Scientist at Asda
Rafal talked us through how he is currently using Alteryx at Asda to gather and analyse the feedback that they receive from customers. He has successfully created a workflow which connects and downloads customer feedback. This data is then fed into a pre-trained model before being analysed. The worklflow then automatically raises a Jira ticket with the attached feedback so that the team are able to act quickly and efficiently. This process used to run once a day, 5 days a week but with the help of Alteryx it is now running every hour, 7 days a week.
Savio Henriques – BI Manager at Inmarsat
Inmarsat is the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications which covers various different markets including maritime and aviation. One of the key challenges that they face is the unreliability of data. In order to enhance the data that was available, Savio and his team used Alteryx to create a process that would match the internal data to a more accurate external source using 3 spatial tools: Create points, Find Nearest and Spatial Info. The output of this workflow was then extracted and published into Tableau where the data was then analysed and visualised.
Chris Goodman – Analytics Manager at PWC
Over the past few months Chris has held internal Alteryx training courses and has successfully upskilled over 200 people within this time. In order to determine exactly how successful his training sessions were for his attendees, Chris managed to use the MongoDB to identify not only what they were scheduling on the Alteryx server but also what tools were being used, and more importantly, what tools people were searching for/required more assistance with. From the data that he was able to gather he could identify who the super users were and who required more assistance, and could tailor his training materials to suit the needs of his attendees.
Libby Duane Adams – Co-Founder & CCO at Alteryx
Libby gave us an insight into her life inside and outside Alteryx HQ. Before opening things up to the floor for questions, she highlighted the importance of some areas of the community that are close to her heart with Women of Analytics being key. Libby emphasised that Women of Analytics is not just for women but it is fact for everyone and is about “empowering everyone to achieve success in their analytics and data science careers.” For more information on how you can become involved, check out the WoA community page: https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Women-of-Analytics/gp-p/womenofanalytics
