After the In Person Certification Evening we're pleased to announce the 3rd London Alteryx User Group of 2019 (and our 20th in total(!) and we have a very special visitor in store for you all...
Libby Duane Adams an Alteryx Co-Founder and the Chief Customer Officer will be over in London and will be attending and presenting at the next meetup on May 1st 2019. It'll be a fantastic opportunity to hear from the co-founder of the incredible platform that we all love and a chance to network with her on the day.
Our 2nd confirmed special guest will be Savio Henriques, BI Manager at Inmarsat (the world leader in global, mobile satellite communications), who have just accepted an offer to be acquired for a whapping £2.6bn! Savio will share how his organisation are using Alteryx Spatial to "Match Ships and Planes" across the globe!
We have at least one spare spot on the agenda if anyone is interested in sharing their personal or organisations Alteryx journey in front of some very esteemed guests - Please get in touch if you're interested in speaking (even if just for 5 minutes!)
Detailed Agenda to be updated in the coming weeks.
Look forward to seeing you all back at Alteryx HQ on 1st May!
Please do only register if you plan on attending and please update your registration status if you can no longer make it - We've been having A LOT of no-shows recently which is frustrating when trying to plan food, drinks and venue space :)
Thanks,
Joe
Hi Joe and Alteryx community. Thanks very much for the inspiring night. My favourite takeaway for tonight is "Do you speak Alteryx?" :)
As promised, my idea on "Support WKT as Spatial object + output spatial object in TDE file directly" posted on 09-27-2017 can be found here:
https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Designer-Ideas/Support-WKT-as-Spatial-object-output-spatial...
It seems to me, that enable output spatial data as WKT(well know text) will enable Alteryx to output spatial data into Tableau's hyper/tde. Besides, wkt is a supported data fromat for a range of databases. points and lines are easier to handle, but polygons are a little bit complicated, but with better integration with OGC standards, it can be managed easier.
(FME's capacity to output spatial fields to Hyper/TDE was mentioned here:
https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Designer-Discussions/Map-Info-to-wkt-conversion/m-p/63364?a...)
A related issue, I have a feeling that the GeoJson format used in Alteryx might have been outdated, as "from August 2016 GeoJSON is now a formal IETF specification" instead of " old informal 2008 spec"

There were Alteryx engineers responded to my thread, but it needs more users who have the power to push up the priority. I am looking to see Alteryx can be more spatial data/database friendly. (An inspiring thread from Tableau community on the support of PostGIS https://community.tableau.com/ideas/7136#comment-31648 ).
During the past 2-3 years, Tableau's mapping functionalities have developed a lot, Alteryx developed earlier and may need some further development.
