Hey Community,
We have got an Alteryx Designer licence few month back. We currently looking at scheduler options on alteryx and got to know it require a different license worth $6,500. Since we have already paid an amount of $5,000 for designer. Do we need to pay a differential amount of $1,500 to get the scheduler licence? How do we go about it??
Thanks!

The automation license is additional to the designer. It is $6,500 in addition to the designer license and must be co-termed with it. If you purchased a 1-year subscription, then this license will be pro-rated to the same expiration date. The automation license runs on a PC workstation (not a server) and allows a single user to schedule local workflows to run. There are some caveats to using the automation that you should be aware of. The PC must be ON and able to access required data. If you put this on a machine that goes to sleep or if you are disconnected from the data (cable or network), your jobs won't run successfully. The automation is a handy feature for small business automation (e.g. download daily data). The resources on your PC may be limited and you might not want to run more than 2 concurrent jobs. This all depends upon the number of CORES in your machine (1 job per 2 cores).
If you want to purchase the license, please contact your account representative. You can PM me with your name, phone and email and I'd be happy to connect you with Alteryx.
Cheers,
Mark
@MarqueeCrew Thankyou for the info Mark. I can connect with our account representative on it.
@MarqueeCrew Mark, follow up questions:
1. Are there certainly no option to have a scheduler set up on a server based workflow??
2. We do not look to run concurrent jobs on the scheduler. We have multiple workflows and each depends on the output of another. Is it possible to have such a setup on the scheduler??
3. You mentioned about small business automation, does the scheduler supports a scenario where automation is about downloading the data from a database, taking as inputs in the workflow, and automatic generation of outputs after running the workflow?
For automation use on a server, you will need to purchase a server license. You can "link" jobs to run or you can use CReW macros (available at http://www.chaosreignswithin.com/) to setup workflow dependencies.
The scheduler definitely will run jobs that download and creates outputs as part of the workflow.
Cheers,
Mark
@MarqueeCrew will the desktop scheduler run as well if the computer is on but the screen is locked? (logged into the machine but locked out due to period of inactivity for xx mins on Windows 10)
HI @MarqueeCrew
We have Alteryx Designer 2021 installed on an Azure server instance and multiple developers access this Azure instance for development via remote desktop connections.
We have requirements to schedule some workflows daily using the inbuilt Alteryx Scheduler option available in the Alteryx Designer tool (not the Alteryx gallery scheduler).
Can you please let us know which Alteryx license should we avail to meet our above requirements. ? Is Alteryx server license required or Alteryx Automation license will suffice ?
Thanks.
