Hi, DFW Alteryxians!  Great news; I am happy to announce that this month’s in-person meeting will be hosted by Alteryx, at the Plano Alteryx office!

This will be our first in-person meeting since February 2020, and we are more than excited to be able to have everyone together again.  The Plano Alteryx office has generously offered to provide sandwiches and refreshments during our meeting, and we are grateful to them for hosting our “reunion” meeting on Thursday, June 30th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The office is located at 7950 Legacy Drive, Plano, TX, 75024, and our meeting will be hosted in the conference room on the second floor.  Free parking is available in the garage next to the building.  For those members who were part of the user group in 2018, this is the same location where we hosted our August meeting that year for the Alteryx Plano Office Grand Opening.  😊

As part of our reunion meeting, we will feature long-time user group member and Alteryx ACE, Charlie Squyers!  Charlie is the Lead Analytics Developer at Buxton, and will present an entertaining session called “What the XML?”.  Join us to learn more about this fascinating topic, and hear from one of the best!

Additional presenters will be announced soon, and please stay tuned.  Please also RSVP using the instructions below for the Calendar on the Events tab in this user group page; we would like to obtain a count of attendees in advance of the meeting, so that Alteryx can provide food and beverages for all.  Seating is limited, so please RSVP early if possible.

With the new Community Events experience, you can sign-up to attend a meeting with a click of a button!  Please visit the “Events” tab at the top of this page (next to “Home” and “Discussion”) then click on the link in the calendar on the 30thDFW Alteryx User Group June In-Person Meeting! - Alteryx Community .  Then simply click "Yes" on the top right corner to RSVP to this event.  There is also an easy way to add the event to your own calendar!

If you have not already become a member of the Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX - Alteryx Community User Group, please click the Join Group button so you can stay up to date on current and future meetings.  (It’s free to join!)

We are truly looking forward to seeing you all in person again, and enjoying an afternoon of camaraderie and Alteryx!  Thanks again to the Alteryx Plano office for hosting, and we hope to see you there!

Hi, DFW User Group members!  I wanted to send you a quick update, and let you know that based on RSVPs in the Events tab (please click on the Calendar event), we are currently at capacity for the in-person meeting on Thursday.  For those who have RSVP'd and may not be able to attend, please let us know so that we can make room for additional members.  It is great to see that our in-person meeting is very popular, and we will need to look at larger venues in the future!  :)

We are pleased to announce that we have two additional presenters for this "reunion" meeting, along with Charlie Squyers:  Eric Thomas, Sales Engineer at Alteryx, will be presenting the latest features of Designer Cloud powered by Trifacta.  For those who haven't seen the new cloud platform, this will be a chance to view the cool new options and ask questions.  To learn more about the Alteryx Analytics Cloud, please visit Alteryx Cloud | Alteryx .

Our third presenter will be our own user group co-leader, David Rardon, Director of Analytics at The Commit Partnership!  David has been co-leading the user group since we formed in 2015, and will present "Leveraging Data Analytics for Education Outcomes", which he also recently presented at the Alteryx Inspire conference.  Some of you may recognize The Commit Partnership from our user group's Alteryx For Good efforts in 2017; The Commit Partnership was our first AFG project, and 22 volunteers from our group participated in creating Alteryx solutions for the organization.  David now leads the nonprofit's analytics efforts, and we are excited to hear about The Commit Partnership's Alteryx journey!  For more information, please see their website at The Commit Partnership .

Agenda for the meeting:

2:00 to 2:15 p.m.  Welcome and Introductions (and food!)

2:15 to 2:45 p.m.  Alteryx Designer Cloud powered by Trifacta presentation and Q&A, Eric Thomas, Alteryx

2:45 to 2:55 p.m.  Community Updates

2:55 to 3:10 p.m.  Intermission, food and networking

3:10 to 3:35 p.m.  "What the XML?", Charlie Squyers, Alteryx ACE and Lead Analytics Developer, Buxton

3:35 to 4:00 p.m.  "Leveraging Data Analytics for Education Outcomes", David Rardon, Director of Analytics, The Commit Partnership

4:00 to 4:30 p.m.  Networking and Camaraderie

Alteryx has generously offered to provide a taco buffet and refreshments for our guests, and we are truly grateful to them for their support, as well as hosting our first in-person meeting in 2.5 years at their Plano office building!  Just a reminder that the meeting will be in the 2nd floor conference room, and a sign-in sheet will be available.  Free parking is available in the garage next to the building as well.

Thank you again, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone at this exciting event!

Hi, @NancyMcCurdy!  For this meeting, we won't have a virtual link available; however, our next meetings at the end of July and August will be virtual, and we will have additional guest speakers and presentations.  We hope to provide a virtual link for future in-person meetings, which will now be quarterly (our virtual meetings will continue to be monthly).  The next in-person meeting will be planned for September; please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you again for reaching out,

Thank you @Deanna, Charlie, and Dave! It was a WONDERFUL meeting, I learned a ton. It was my first User Group meeting and it felt like a mini conference. Thanks for a great meeting. :)

Hi, DFW User Group Members!  Thanks to each of you who were able to attend our first in-person meeting since February 2020!  It was outstanding to have everyone back together again in the same room, and to be able to network, enjoy good food, and learn new things about Alteryx!

Special thanks to each of our guest presenters:

  • Eric Thomas, Sales Engineer, Alteryx Cloud Team, gave an excellent overview of the new Designer Cloud Powered by Trifacta.  It was great to watch the effortless way Trifacta utilized data, allowing for fast data engineering and analytics.  Thank you, Eric, as well as Sam Garcia, Alteryx Enterprise Account Executive, for flying to Dallas just for our meeting!
  • Charlie Squyers, Alteryx ACE and Lead Analytics Developer at Buxton, delivered an engaging presentation called "What the XML?".  He showed some very innovative ways of exploring the XML behind the scenes of Alteryx workflows and macros, including a cool way to find that "missing macro"!  Charlie's presentation can be found in the post prior to this one in the meeting thread.
  • David Rardon, co-leader of the user group, and Director of Analytics at The Commit Partnership, provided an in-depth look at how The Commit Partnership uses Alteryx in their daily work.  From demographic and education-based analytics to extensive statistical presentations, Alteryx is essential throughout their processes, benefitting communities throughout the Dallas area and beyond.

Thank you also to Alteryx and especially the Plano Alteryx office for enabling our group to meet in the conference room; what a great location!  We are grateful for their generosity in providing a delicious taco buffet and refreshments, and for welcoming all of our members!

A copy of the Community Updates presentation is attached, as well as a fun photo of our group; can you spot Charlie?  :)

As mentioned during the updates, we will be starting another Alteryx For Good volunteer opportunity soon, and more information will be posted in the near future.  AFG project meetings will be hosted virtually, so that anyone can join and dedicate their knowledge, as well as learn about Alteryx along the way!

Please stay tuned for the next user group meeting; the August meeting will be held virtually by Zoom during the last week of this month, and we will have an in-person September meeting, which will continue a quarterly in-person cadence for our members.  The venue for September's meeting will be announced soon as well!

Thank you again for being a part of our awesome user group; we are one of the largest groups in North America, created "by users, for users".  We look forward to seeing you again soon!
