Alteryx Analytics 9.1, the latest version of our market-leading platform for data blending and advanced analytics, is now available. Alteryx Analytics 9.1 extends the value of every data source, from Excel to Big Data, by delivering more data blending for analytics and enriched Tableau support.
Data Blending
This release continues our focus on data blending by giving analysts the ability to access and combine data from wherever it may reside, including Hadoop, Google BigQuery and Excel. Alteryx has allowed analysts to access Hadoop via HIVE, and in this release we've updated the connector to provide faster, more efficient access. But the bigger news is that Alteryx Analytics 9.1 delivers on the promise we made to analysts in June to empower them with the ability to directly read and write data to/from a Hadoop Distributed File System.
Organizations are increasingly turning to Hadoop to store their most critical data, and our new direct read/write capabilities allow analysts to blend data from Hadoop with other data sources to drive deeper business insights in every part of their organization.
While companies move data into places like Hadoop and Google BigQuery, the fact remains that a lot of data continues to reside at the other end of the storage spectrum inside Excel spreadsheets. Accessing data from Excel has, and will continue to be, an important part of our data blending strategy – so much so that we've written the Get Well Guide for the Excel Analyst to help them avoid the pitfalls of trying to use Excel by itself for data blending and analytics. In Alteryx Analytics 9.1 we added a native connector to Excel that bypasses the inefficient Microsoft drivers and can deliver data from large spreadsheets into Alteryx up to 10 times faster. Both the legacy Excel connector and the new native connector are available within the Input tool so you can compare them side-by-side.
Enriched Visualization
We now have over 180 customers who use both Alteryx for data blending and advanced analytics on large datasets, and then Tableau for stunning visualizations. The next major component of the release extends what is already the most complete and widely adopted data blending solution for Tableau. In Alteryx Analytics 9.1, analysts can now append blended data to existing Tableau TDE files to update previously created Alteryx fueled Tableau visualizations. This is ideal for analysts who use Alteryx to process new or refreshed data, but still want to save and analyze existing data for historical context.
We've also updated the Alteryx Visual Analytics Kit for Tableau with Alteryx workflows and Tableau workbooks for survey analysis, multichannel analysis, predictive A/B testing, retail location selection, market basket analysis, and more. It also includes sample workflows, visualizations, data and offers from many of our partners, including Data Revelations, DataSift, Experian, InterWorks, Pluto7, Slalom Consulting, Teknion, The Information Lab and USEReady. Couple these samples with a free download of Alteryx Analytics and you'll see how seamless and easy it is to use Alteryx and Tableau as part of a complete data blending, analytics, and visualization solution.
Dan Jewitt, Vice President of Product Management at Tableau, underscored the impact that our relationship is having on the analytics landscape. "The power of data analytics has been discovered by businesses and organizations, and people are being asked to go deeper into the data to find more insights and new competitive advantages. They need a solution that provides them with the data they need and the analytical capabilities to deliver deeper insight. Alteryx is a helpful resource for data blending in Tableau, making visual analysis easier than ever."
The interest by data analysts in our combined solution is so strong that we're the top (Yotta) sponsor of this week's Tableau Conference, September 8-12. For more information about our scheduled theater sessions and our activities in booth #127, visit http://www.alteryx.com/tableau-conference. And, if you'll be in Seattle with us this week, make plans to stop by and see Alteryx Analytics 9.1 in action.
Advanced Analytics
The final major component of the release is the addition of several new and updated predictive tools that data analysts can insert directly into the same workflows used for data blending, and perform advanced analytics with no coding whatsoever. The new and updated tools include:
- A/B Trend
- Distribution Analysis
- Multi-Field Binning
- Naïve Bayes Classifier
- Neural Network
- Pearson Correlation
- Score
- Support Vector Machines
- Time Series Arima
- Time Series Covariate Forecast
- Time Series Filler
