List box tool works fine in designer but not populating list while published to server

Hi Alteryx community,

I am having an issue with list box tool, which works fine in designer, but not populating the list on server.

As per attached screen, data from the list is read from external source file (either csv or yxdb) which is saved in network folder, the file could get updated when the list grows, so it's not included in the package that's pushed to server. Appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this.

I think you need a chained app.  Here's a link to see if this helps.  I'm not a big fan of Chained apps but it does work.
