XLS vs XLSX Output Issue

I have an workflow that takes a .CSV file and outputs to a .XLSX.  The output creates multiple tabs in the same excel workbook with tab naming based on a column in the .CSV.  Almost everytime I try to run the workflow with the .XLSX output I get a different error.  It runs fine when I make it output to a .XLS but it is so slow that I could do the work faster than the workflow.  Any ideas?

What are some of the errors you are getting? 

I was able to run the attached workflow without errors. 

Made slight changes in order to run it on my local machine (i.e., just removing the specific folder locations and pointing everything (input and outputs) where the workflow was saved).

I had a similar issue before now but using .xlsb files.  To solve my problem, I had to download the necessary driver from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255 to read .xlsb files (Excel Binary files).

I guess you have a similar issue, but Alteryx should be able to work with .xlsx files.  I suspect it's a Microsoft Office driver problem - are you able to open .xlsx files in Microsoft Excel?  Perhaps try reinstalling Microsoft Office?
