Hello,
I am currently working on a workflow but every time I click anywhere within the Designer application, the application stops responding and is frozen for at least 5 minutes. I have disabled auto-configure as well as uninstalled and reinstalled the program and the issue is still persisting.
Is there any way to remedy this? Please help!

This is old discussion, but I had this problem and resolved it, so I may as well share it for someone who has same problem.
The issue was in settings: 'Send tool usage data for Customer Experience Improvement program'. Try disabling it and see if it makes any difference.
