Hi,
Does anyone have experience with establishing a connection to a Tableau PostGreSQL server using the In-DB tools?
I can set up a connection with an Input tool, but that's slow.
When I set up a connection in the ODBC Admin to Tableau PostGreSQL, I can see it in the list of connections but it doesn't work. I can't choose it as a connection string in this window.
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Cheers,
Esther

Hi @estherb47
It looks like in your screenshot you have chose "Oracle ODBC Connection" as the option. For PostGreSQL you can use the Greenplum one.
Does it appear in the list then?
Hi @JoeS
Thank you. Can you walk me through the process? In my input tool, which works, it's set up as an ODBC.
I am currently updating to 2019.3 so can't provide screenshots, but will try and provide the steps from memory and update later.....
Pull down the Connect In-DB tool >
Select Manage Connections >
Select Greenplum from the top dropdown >
Click New >
Give it a name that you want to use >
select the connection option at the bottom >
choose the ODBC connection you have set up >
Change to write tab >
select the same as read.
Click OK.
Sorry for the horrible list. But hopefully it helps.
@JoeS that worked perfectly. THANK YOU!!!!
Greenplum connection? Really? Would have never tried that.
Cheers,
Esther
I am glad that my horrid list was correct from memory and somewhat coherent enough to follow along.
Yeah, I believe Greenplum is built on top of PostGres which is why works, but don't quote me on that.
