Hi,
When I pull a Salesforce report on the web, the data is outputted as a string (ie. Apple). However, when I do the same using a Salesforce Input tool, the output is an ID (ie. 0013700000Ce2GMAAZ). Why is it like this and how can I have it where it outputs as a string in my Salesforce Input tool?
Thank you!
Bryan
I'm curious about integrating the Salesforce Input Tool to improve educational data management efficiency. By the way, did you know that lesson planning is important to effective teaching? It provides students with a structured and engaging learning experience. Any suggestions for how this tool can improve lesson planning processes?
This is a common issue when working with the Salesforce Input tool. What you're experiencing is the difference between how Salesforce stores data internally versus how it displays it in reports. In the web report, you're seeing the "label" or name (e.g., "Apple"), but the Salesforce Input tool often pulls the raw data, which includes object IDs (e.g., "0013700000Ce2GMAAZ").
To resolve this, you’ll need to join the ID field with the appropriate Salesforce object table to retrieve the readable string or label. For example, if you're pulling an Account ID, you can join it with the Account object to get the Account Name.
Using the Salesforce Output or Dynamic Input tool may also help customize your query more precisely. Be sure to check the field options and possibly use SOQL queries to return the fields you want in a readable format. This approach ensures you get both the ID and the corresponding name.
