PERIOD COLUMN BASED ON DATE

Hi I have a data that the audit cycle is unusual. I want my period 01 to be followed by the month of october. 

Here is my expected output:

Date                               Period

2020-10-01                       01

2020-11-06                       02

2020-12-01                       03

2021-01-31                       04

2021-02-16                       05

2021-03-12                       06

2021-04-09                       07

2021-05-19                       08

2021-06-21                       09
