Issue appending data after a cross tab

Hi - I am trying to append a 1x3 matrix to a 1x18 matrix after a cross tab. When I look at the output from the cross tab, I see 18 fields (which is correct), but when I look at the input on the next tab it says there are 4 fields (which is not correct).

If anyone can help me sort this out, I would be super grateful.

Thanks.

Do you see your 18 fields in your select tool after you run and refresh your metadata? The Results pain may require a run to refresh - if you attach a browse tool and it doesn't show your data that would be weird - otherwise it's just what's cached.

Unfortunately, when I refresh and rerun the workflow I get the same results. The results of the output from the cross tab are not the same on the input for the next step.  The cross tab yields 18 fields w/ 1 row.  The input on the next step is 4 fields with no data.

Thank you for replying.

Have you tried deleting the select tool and inserting a new one? Occasionally there will be some random metadata errors that occur and this might fix it. Let me know!

@alteryxworker
This is a very strange issue. have not met it before.

Did you try to delete and replace the Select too and see what happens?

or you can upload the flow if the data is not sensitive.

Yes, happy to share the worflow - thank you.  I have tried deleting the select and the cross tab functions, but still no progress. Any suggestions are appreciated!

you have two tools -Transpose and Crosstab. one on top of each other. the crosstab tool is not connected to the select tool - the Transpose tool is.

Hi @alteryxworker ,

you had two transpose tools one over the other. Your top Transpose was creating correctly 18 fields, while the background Transpose had different configurations creating the 4 that Select tool was fed with.

Cross Tab creates multiple rows - Transpose that you are using creates columns.

Hope it helps,

Oly

@oly- one transpose/once crosstab. I honestly thought this was some weird scam hoax when I saw it. How did the OP remove the crosstab tool and not notice the transpose tool underneath it?

OP is new to Aleryx :)
