Google Connector Sheet names

Hello and Happy New Year all,

Does anybody know when using Google Connector and pull data from all sheets created under the same Google Sheets (assuming all sheets have same template), how to know which data is coming from where? If this is MS Excel from Google drive, under Configure File and Attach Metadata, there is 'Sheet Name', but not if you are pulling data from Google Sheets. I'm assuming this is forgotten or not there for a reason? Interim fix is to add a column in every sheet and provide sheet name, but I'm looking for like Excel kind of behavior. Any comments?

Thanks

Albert

Hi @albert_alaluf

The Google Sheets tool is deprecated. I would recommend installing the latest version of the Google Drive connectors via this link.

In the latest version of the Google Drive connector tool, the sheet name will be brought in and you can also bring in other metadata.

You can read more about the Google Drive Input tool here - https://help.alteryx.com/20223/designer/google-drive-input-tool

Hope this helps.

Hi @PanPP

Thank you for reply. I mean Google Drive connector. Please see below.

If I pull from Excel in Google Drive, sheet name is there.

If I pull Google Sheets file in Google Drive, sheet name metadata is not there.

Do I miss something?

I'm using the latest Google Drive Connector published yesterday.

Hi,

This worked for me

1. Use the "select file" tab to find the gsheet

2. Then "add file" on the same tab

3. The file should appear in the path now

4. Then move to the "configure file" tab and it will use the name of the sheet it found for me it was the name of the workbook 'Sheet 1'
