Tools which have a preset dropdown could have a external input field which would select the field to be processed. This input field has data fed from the prior output (basically all tools being able to output just the metadata as an input to this tool, except this tool ). This will give greater maneuverability if same set processes need to be performed on multiple columns or a choice is needed to decide which column alone needs to get processed
