Adding a Total Column

Hello. I am working on an Apportionment workflow for my employer. I have a column for category and states across the top. I am trying to enter a total column next to the category row that sums up the values for each state for each category row. What is the best way to do this?

I did both recommended methods. Both yielded the same results, but the macro keeps me from missing columns or accidentally mistyping something in the formula bar. Thank you both, @ShankerV and @DataNath for taking the time to point me in the right direction. I greatly appreciate your help.
