Vroom vroom folks! It’s time to start getting excited about the highly anticipated 2022 Formula 1 season! This is one of the most anticipated seasons in Formula 1 history and I can’t wait for it to get started!
The next generation of cars will bring teams a new analytical challenge. This challenge has already begun with so much unknown, as teams scramble to create data sets to analyze their cars. Only a real race can give them the data they need, so the first race in Bahrain is top of mind for the teams.
With all this data coming, the Alteryx platform is going to give the McLaren Formula 1 Team a big support in striving for a competitive advantage. Alteryx automation capabilities are allowing McLaren to spend more time making decisions and exploring possibilities. Under a clear spending cap for the Formula 1 series, McLaren can maximize working to their limits efficiently and effectively using the Alteryx platform. Alteryx is proud to be a sponsor and partner for McLaren and hope our platform can continue to help push the McLaren team back to the top and keep them there!
But that’s not all folks!
We are also extremely (pun intended) excited to be partnering with the new McLaren Extreme E team. This series is the newest in the electric genesis of racing. This series combines the power and environmentally friendly electrified engines to unleash the might of these vehicles across massive dunes, glaciers, and rivers. What’s even more extreme about this series is the reasoning behind the racing. Extreme E was developed to increase awareness of our global environmental crisis and to race in some of the places where this crisis is front and center. The hope is by increasing awareness, our world will take notice, and take action. This new series aligns with the Alteryx corporate vision to help solve the world's global and societal problems through data.
Did I mention that the series also aligns with Alteryx diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives? How might this series be aligned with this initiative you may ask? Each team is required to have one female driver and one male driver. McLaren’s drivers are Emma Gilmore and Tanner Foust. Emma has a great resume in Rally racing. Emma became the first woman to win a round of the New Zealand Rally Championship (NZRC) when she won in the 2016 Rally of Canterbury. Emma will be a force to be reckoned with in this series. Some of you may recognize Tanner from the US version of Top Gear and maybe a few car commercials. Tanner also won 4 gold medals at the X Games in rallycross. As you can see McLaren went big on the drivers for Extreme E!
We hope Alteryx can help the McLaren Extreme E team push into this new territory, where they’ll apply all their knowledge and tenacity to be a leader and compete for victory in the series.
I know, I know, you’re asking, “how do I keep up with all this?”
Well first, I don't want to undersell this 2022 Formula 1 season, so some of you may be reading this and not truly understand how big this season in Formula 1 is going to be. Maybe, you didn’t get a chance to read all our McLaren 2021 season blogs. Or, maybe you didn’t get to watch all the races. But guess what? Thanks to Netflix you can get caught up from last season by watching their hit series Drive To Survive. The newest series premieres on March 11, 2022. This series takes you behind the scenes of the previous season. It’s brilliantly produced and has helped catapult Formula 1 popularity in the United States. If you watch, you will be able to see the drama, and experience all the personalities across the series. You’ll see how the drama of this past 2021 season will add to the excitement and anticipation alongside the new generation of cars.
