I am not sure how the data in the provided solution set responds to the prompt - because the prompt requests a 3 month and 6 month average I modified my final table a bit in a way that made the data easiest for me to understand as meeting the prompt (in other words, I have retained a table lay out with RM Category as a field, and my 3 month and 6 month averages are labeled accordingly for each category).  I am curious if the provided solution's orientation and labeling is providing a benefit I may be missing?

My solution, although I wasn't sure of the table in the solution so I made it a little different.

Set to Values of Closest Valid Row was still leaving me with many null values, so I did a fill down with multi-row formula first.  Not the greatest, but then also not the mess that is the official solution either.

Nice challenge! Some tricky aspects to this.
