Hello Tampa User Group,

It was great meeting with everyone and restarting the Tampa User Group. We are currently looking at dates in January for our next user group meeting. Stay tuned for the next meeting invite.

I'd like to briefly recap what we reviewed during the prior meeting and include some attachments to some of the workflows that were demonstrated.

Leader Team

1.Joe Hollub  Senior Associate Low Code Services, PwC

2.Forrest Harper   Director of Platform Management, JLL

3.Eloy Ochoa   Senior Alteryx Developer, Wipro

We used the first session to go around the room with introductions, discuss current experience with Alteryx, current challenges, and ideas for future topics of next sessions. We gave a generic tips and tricks session and answered some general questions from around the room about Alteryx.

We then broke into 3 presentations of varying complexity about Alteryx.

I demonstrated a dynamic formula workflow where we utilize the "update inner XML" option of a macro in order to create a dynamic formula tool that can utilize a user friendly excel spreadsheet as a mapping file to define what kind of calculation a formula tool will perform based on user set parameters.

Forest Harper then gave a demonstration about basic tips and tricks around strings and numeric fields. He walked through a few common examples and mistakes that even advanced users still often make in a very interactive and interesting presentation.

Lastly, Eloy Ochoa demonstrated the utility of dynamic inputs. He showed a workaround to big data limitations and he showed the mechanics behind using a dynamic input to replace portions of SQL within queries.
