Quick post based on a Support Case I've just been involved with:

Snowflake Input Error: Designer x64: The Designer x64 reported: InboundNamedPipe GetOverlappedResult: The pipe has been ended.

Issue

When extracting more than a few hundred rows of data or data with a large number of columns from Snowflake using the Input or IN-DB tools, you may receive the following error:

Error: Designer x64: The Designer x64 reported: InboundNamedPipe GetOverlappedResult: The pipe has been ended.

Environment Details

Observed in:

  • Alteryx Designer 2021.3.8.17680
  • Alteryx Server 2021.3.8.17680

Cause

The official Simba Snowflake driver on the licensing portal has compatibility issues and does not line up with the 'Validated On' version in the Snowflake documentation.

Resolution

Install an older version of the Simba Snowflake driver.

Simba Snowflake 2.25.5.1019 validated on Alteryx Designer 2021.3.8.17680.

  1. On the Drivers download page, instead of selecting Snowflake, scroll down to find Snowflake Previous Versions.

  2. At the bottom are the version that is listed on the Alteryx Snowflake documentation, as well as a version we used to resolve our support case.
