Consumerizing Big Data Analytics with Alteryx Strategic Analytics

Alteryx Strategic Analytics 8.5 is now available. Traditionally, a release numbered as X.5 either indicates the roll up of a number of smaller feature releases or a step towards the next major release. Alteryx 8.5 is more than both of these, and marks a significant transition, not only in our product, but also in the analytics market as a whole.

 

The traditional business intelligence stack vendors have seen their adoption and growth level off, and we are starting to see the same trend for the legacy analytics vendors such as SAS and Tibco Spotfire. Meanwhile a new set of smaller more relevant vendors such as Alteryx and Tableau are seeing significant growth and adoption – primarily driven by the demand for analytical capabilities to be in the hands of line-of-business analysts and business leaders. Meeting and exceeding the requirements of these users is what Alteryx 8.5 is all about.

 

There are three key themes in Alteryx 8.5:

  • The opportunity to replace coding-based solutions with a modern, intuitive experience with a design environment purpose built for the data artisan
  • The ability to put sophisticated analytics directly in the hands of the business exemplified through Alteryx 8.5 being the first platform to deliver the Tableau file format natively
  • Enabling new ways to interact with strategic analytics with interactive mapping

 

If our Alteryx 8.0 release was about Consumerizing Big Data Analytics for business decision makers with the Alteryx Analytics Gallery, then Alteryx 8.5 is about applying the same principles to the design and creation of analytics.  For too long the people responsible for getting the data and analysis together that actually answer the big questions posed by business leaders – the business and data analysts in marketing, sales, finance etc. – have had the terrible choice of trying to cobble together insight from whatever IT have made available to them or waiting for a specialist. Alteryx Strategic Analytics 8.5 is all about removing that pain.

 

With Alteryx 8.5 we are also making available a new Edition of our Alteryx Design - Project Edition. It is the first fully capable analytics platform available for free - we’ve just limited the number of times an analyst can run their workflows to produce an output before they need to upgrade.
