I followed the instructions to lock my workflow. What I can't figure out is how to now run the locked WF. I know I can't edit it anymore, but how do I run it without being able to open it in Designer? The way I run WFs is to open Designer, open the WF, and then do a Ctrl+R, but I can't open them in Designer, so I'm stumped. Thanks!
Edit: When I locked the WF, I entered my user's Serial number [email address] but I still can't open the locked WF in Designer to run it.

Hello! When you lock a workflow, you can specify specific serial numbers, enabling instances of Alteryx matching those serial numbers to run the workflow.
Only users with listed serial numbers are able to run the locked workflow. I would lock the workflow with your serial number specified so you can run the workflow. If you need to find your serial number, you can look here:
Edit: Clarity on instructions
Hi Christina,
I did that initially - my Serial ID is my email address. I entered that when I locked the WF. However, when I try to open it in Designer to run it, I get the error that says the Document is locked and can't be opened for editing.
Once you lock the workflow, it is unable to be opened again. It can only be ran (not opened) by the user with the serial number specified.

Hi Christina,
I understand that - my question is how do I run the WF? The only way I know to run WFs is to open it in Designer and click Ctrl+R or the "Run" button
Apologies for misunderstanding your original question! As for running a locked workflow, the only way I've ever ran locked workflows is by making the workflow an App. This way, once it's locked, you can "open" it in designer and the interface window will pop up, allowing you to access the output.
Ah hah!! Got it! That's what I was missing!! Thank you so much!
And no worries for the misunderstanding - I was struggling to find the right words :)
Hi @Carolyn - Two other alternatives to run a locked workflow would be:
- Using a Runner tool: https://help.alteryx.com/current/Runner.htm
- Run a workflow via cmd: https://help.alteryx.com/20221/designer/run-workflows-command-line
