cant add container?/

when i right click the canvas...all i get is a drop-down list of "paste, zoom, insert,a nd find tool"

What are you expecting to see when you right-click?  If you want to add a container, either drag it from the palette, drag it from the search bar or find it under the Insert sub-menu when you right click. 

If you have any other tools on your canvas, you can select any number of them, right-click on one of the selected tools and choose Add to New Container from the menu
