String fields can only be joined to other string fields

I'm receiving the error saying "String fields can only be joined to other string fields" but when I check the data type appear to be matching. 

What am I doing wrong?

Hi @REP ,

Rather than convert those fields to the correct datatype within the join tool itself, try changing them using a select tool right before the join. Let me know if that doesn't work and I can help you troubleshoot further.

It doesn't work if you change the datatype in the Join Tool. Change the datatypes in a Select Tool before joining.

Is datatype one word or two?

As other commented, we are not supposed to change the Join Key data type with the embedded select tool in Join Tool.

The Join Key fields must be changed to disired Data Type before entering the Join Tool.
