Hello,
Can I automate data from SAP for t-code QS28 which doesn't support standard Variant saving? I need to first run the t-code, then select a field, click "Show results", then set date range, execute selection and only then I can export to spreadsheet. Could these interim selections be somehow embedded into an Alteryx workflow in order to automate this data?
Thanks in advance.

If you want to export data from the SAP GUI, you'll likely need a BOT tool like UIPath. Alteryx isn't the right tool for GUI actions.
You can get data from SAP database tables using third party tools like:
DVW Analytics by De Villiers Walton: Our DVW Alteryx Connector Products for SAP and BusinessObjects are designed to be the fastest, easiest way to extract data from SAP and BusinessObjects into Alteryx.

HVR: June 2019: HVR is relatively new to Alteryx

Theobald Software: Xtract for Alteryx

or a tool like Informatica IICS to extract data and store it to Snowflake

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your feedback. I also thought this would be a use case for RPA but wanted to check before this whether Alteryx would also be an option without any third party tools.
Thanks and have a nice day!

Hi again,
I was wondering, can this be also automated by using Alteryx table tool, i.e. if SAP table behind is identified and data is filtered based on a certain criteria within the Alteryx table tool, isn't this a more efficient and robust way of automating SAP data?
Best regards,
Kaloyan

@Kaloyan This is possible if you have access to a HANA database. You can connect via ODBC to tables to retrieve information. If you are on ECC, you likely don't have access to a database that your SAP team will allow.
The DVW analytics tool is pretty inexpensive, but for full functionality, there is an RFC connector that needs to be installed in your SAP system. There is some basic functionality though using the standard SAP GUI connector. They have a free trial option available if you want to try it.

Hi Kaloyan,
Apologies for the extremely delayed response on this ... but as per comments above ... DVW Analytics add-in software provides the ability to run t-codes (including QS28) directly into Alteryx Designer, Server and Cloud.
You can register for the trial mentioned above using this link ... free 30-day trial
If you have questions or would like to see our software in action, please drop me a line at ian.james@dvwsolutions.com
Kind Regards
Ian
