Report Text Tool with a Formula

I am trying to add a header to a report using the Report Text Tool.  I need to have a formula in front of the header that gives me the name of the previous month.  The month will go in front of the report name which will always be the same.  I am not able to get a formula to work.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

You could achieve this by using the report text tool and selecting the field containing your month value to bring in as a variable in the text:

@Jonathan-Sherman I am already using the report text tool after my layout tool.  Does that matter?

Could you share your workflow? It might make it a little easier to diagnose
