Render Tool - Set the Output File Field With a Variable

I'm trying to set the Output File field on the Render Tool dynamically with a field from another tool such as the Formula Tool. This works with the Output Tool and even to some extent in the Email Tool. Is this possible?

I've tried setting the value with the following and neither work:

Output File: "[fileLocation]  or  %fileLocation% or [fileLocation].xlsx

You can create a field that will have the file path that could include a variable similar to the below screen shot

Then in the render tool, you can configure as below to output it to the location you specified in your formula.
