Hello Alteryx Community
I am trying to calculate a column called return since inception, based on data that I receive in quarterly format. I can easily calculate returns over finite time horizons. However, if I want to create a since inception return, the timelines differ by property. Meaning I am not sure how to multiply rows A-X, where A is the first return available by property and X is the last available return by property. please see the format below and provide any suggestions you may have.
Building | QTR | Return (QTRLY) | Since Inception Return |
New Building | 1 | 1.01 | |
New Building | 2 | 1.01 | |
New Building | 3 | 1.25 | |
New Building | 4 | 1.01 | |
New Building | 5 | 1.08 | |
New Building | 6 | 1.01 | |
New Building | 7 | 1.33 | |
New Building | 8 | 1.58 | |
New Building | 9 | 1.01 | |
Old Building | 1 | 1.01 | |
Old Building | 2 | 1.01 | |
Old Building | 3 | 1.25 | |
Old Building | 4 | 1.01 | |
Old Building | 5 | 1.08 | |
Old Building | 6 | 1.01 | |
Old Building | 7 | 1.33 | |
Old Building | 8 | 1.58 | |
Old Building | 9 | 1.01 | |
Old Building | 10 | 1.01 | |
Old Building | 11 | 1.01 | |
Old Building | 12 | 1.25 | |
Old Building | 13 | 1.01 | |
Old Building | 14 | 1.08 | |
Old Building | 15 | 1.01 | |
Old Building | 16 | 1.33 |

Hi @deberryc If I understand correctly this can be done using a multi-row formula as one possibility.
Not sure how old vs new building comes into play but if done at a per building basis you can group by the building.
Let me know if any questions
Disregard what I said, this works perfectly!
