List of Potential Errors when Publishing to Server 2022.3+ from Older Designer Versions

Preamble 

I'm making this post as more and more customers are upgrading their Servers to 2023.1+ and are starting to encounter issues with publishing.

This exists to serve as a repository of known error messages that could occur so that when people Google their error messages they may find this post and discover they need to upgrade their version of Designer to match their version of Server.

If you encounter such a situation please comment with your own error messages to assist others.

Issue

After upgrading your Alteryx Server to 2022.3 or greater, your users may start to receive errors when trying to publish workflows from the Gallery which they haven't seen before and don't seem to be documented anywhere.

Environment Details

• Alteryx Designer : Pre 2022.3
• Alteryx Server : 2022.3+

Cause

Alteryx made some changes with the release of 2022.3 which means that workflows from older versions of Designer cannot (or at least, should not) be published to the Gallery.

Resolution

Upgrade Designer to match your version of Server (or at least upgrade to 2022.3+).

Known Errors

• Workflow was not saved
  Signature cannot be null or empty.

Quite Contrary - this is what happened to us too.

Fortunately this one popped up quick and after updating Designer to 2023.1 it worked.
