Hi all
Could anyone tell which type of interview questions shall i expect for developer role in in Alteryx from any company?
It will really depend on what their responsibilities are of the role and what they are expected to accomplish in it.
Instead of focusing on specific questions, I would advise getting a good understanding of each tool and their functions. Then when they ask a question/problem, you would describe the tools you would use to solve with.
Hi @vishal95, here's a few that you can use to practice. It really depends on what the role is, but if you go based on these I'm sure you'' do well :)
Technical Questions
Core Alteryx Knowledge: Expect questions about Alteryx tools (e.g., Join, Union, Filter, Formula, Summarize) and advanced tools (e.g., Macros, Analytic Apps, Predictive Tools).
Example: “Explain the difference between a batch macro and an iterative macro.”
Data Preparation and ETL: Questions may cover cleaning, blending, and transforming data.
Example: “How would you handle missing values in a dataset using Alteryx?”
Workflow Optimization: Companies often look for developers who can optimize workflows for performance.
Example: “What strategies do you use to optimize a complex Alteryx workflow?”
Error Handling and Debugging: How you troubleshoot and handle errors within workflows.
Example: “Describe a time when you encountered a difficult error in Alteryx. How did you solve it?”
Scenario-Based Questions
Business Problem-Solving: Questions might test your ability to use Alteryx to solve real-world data problems.
Example: “If you had to blend data from multiple sources with differing formats, how would you approach it in Alteryx?”
Case Studies: You might be given a business case and asked to outline a workflow solution.
Example: “Suppose your client needs to match customer names across two lists with minor differences. How would you achieve this in Alteryx?”
Hands-On Exercises
Live Workflow Creation: Many interviews include a practical test where you build a workflow on the spot or solve a sample problem.
Optimization Task: You might be given a workflow and asked to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
General Programming and Logic
SQL: Basic to intermediate SQL questions are common, as SQL is often used within Alteryx.
Example: “How would you join two datasets in SQL versus Alteryx? What are the pros and cons?”
Behavioral Questions
Teamwork and Collaboration: How you interact with team members, especially non-technical stakeholders.
Example: “Describe a time when you had to explain a technical concept to a non-technical audience.”
Project Management: How you manage multiple workflows or projects.
Example: “How do you prioritize tasks when working on multiple Alteryx workflows?”
