Intelligence Suite Installation Problem

Hi,

I installed Designer trial version on my laptop. When the 2 week trial ran out I registered and got my educational license and entered the key to reactivate Designer.

Now that I am a registered student I downloaded Intelligence Suite from my cloud license portal and tried to install it. After the unpacker finishes, it says "Alteryx is not installed. Alteryx Intelligence Suite 2022.3 can not continue".

I'm not sure what to do next - why it can't see my Designer installation that I can open and use. Do I need to uninstall Designer, download it again from my cloud license portal and reinstall and reregister it?

Thanks.

Hi, @KellyGeb

It is likely that you must match your Designer to the version(ing) for Intelligence Suite.

There should be some note in your intelligence setup that tells you what version of the designer to match up with and install.

Absent that, ping fulfillment at fulfillment@alteryx.com, and they will take care of you 👍.

I hope you find this helpful - Cheers!

usually when I see this Alteryx is not installed it's a registry issue. This happens on a semi-regular basis but requires editing the registry path your system is looking for Alteryx. Here are some steps to fix this:

Thanks for the support. Kelly asked me (her husband who uses Alteryx at work) to follow the instructions to fix this.

@apathetichell the registry entry existed already and was correctly pointing to the folder with the AlteryxGUI.exe file.

The trial Designer version that Kelly put her new edu license number in to reregister said it was 2022.3.1.395, and when I clicked check for updates it said fully updated. However that was false.

When I downloaded the Alteryx version from her edu licensing portal, it said I needed to separately download and install Designer, and the current patch, because the patch was not a full install, and I think it said the Designer install had not been updated to the patch version also. This was also false.

The Designer version I downloaded was fully updated to 2022.3.1.450. When I tried to install the patch file to be sure it said Designer was already fully updated. At that point Intelligence Suite installed successfully. So the solution was what RobertOdera said. But the way the licensing site words it, and not all places on the website show the fully qualified version number it is offering, only the first part of the point release, and the software inaccurately saying it was fully updated, made this process very misleading and obtuse.

If I had known in advance I probably didn't need to uninstall her original Designer and could have just run the patch installer file. Oh well it is fixed now. Thanks.

My reply I posted about the root cause was deleted by pressing "accept as solution" on RobertOdera's post afterward. Thanks Robert. It is the solution but there were lots of inaccuracies of the messaging on the licensing portal and what the software said, that made the real solution non-obvious. But I don't want to retype the multi paragraph reply.
