I have 1 license and 1 copy of designer/admin installed. Can I have 1 copy of admin + 1 copy of non-admin installed under my single license. I want to have one set to 2020.3 and the other to 2021.x. I was given the impression by support that I should be able to do this, but it doe not work. 1) Is this possible (without having to purchase a second license), 2) do they have to be on the same physical machine or can I have one on my VM (Mac) and the other on my PC?

You can have admin and non-admin installed on the same machine, but not two separate machines. Alteryx licensing is per user per machine, not unlimited machines.

Understood. Just trying to figure an easy way to transition from a VM on a Mac to a PC -- especially given issues with XML parsing that emerged post 2020.3.

If you are looking to fully transition from one machine to another you can deactivate the license on your current machine and then activate it on the new one. It just isn't built to go back and forth a bunch of times if that makes sense.
