Filter Data using a start date input and an end date input

Maybe there is a thread out there for this and someone could point me to it, however, everything that I have seen so far doesn't seem to work for what I am trying to do.

I want to filter a dataset using a starting date with the Date and Update Value tool.

I figured if I created a column called DATE_START, make it a string, and then connect the Date/Input tool to that field and replace it with the value I want as my starting point  then I could filter using DATE >= ToDate([DATE_START]), however, when I do this the DATE_START doesn't reflect the input date.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Figured it out.  Too bad it won't work dynamically, though.  I had throw in static dates and have it replace them.
