Hi all,
Whenever I try to use the program, I get the following error message: unable to open file for read. .......\linear-example-data.xlsx Error opening file: .......\linear-example-data.xslx : Access is denied. (5)
I tried to use different excel files as an imput but got the same message. I downloaded the program with the help of an IT admin at my office so I thought working on the office network could be a solution but didn't help either.
How can I overcome this error?
Thanks
Is there any chance you or other user has the excel file opened?
If the file is in a shared/network drive, Can you check the permissions your user has on that file? Can you try to copy the file to your local drive and open it?
Hi, I actually tried to use multiple documents, from different locations (i.e. shared network, my own desktop etc.) and still getting the same error.
I checked the permission and there aren't any restrictions.
I downloaded the setup file by myself but the installment was done by someone with an admin password on the company domain, can that be the source of the problem?
I don't think so.
Does this happens with all Excel files?
Can you try installing the Data Connectivity Components (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=23734) ?
Check the security setting on Excel. I just had this error and that was the issue. The file was set to confidential.
Hi! do you know what's the excel setting that was blocking the connection? Tried a bunch but without success. Thanks
Hi All,
We have an existing workflow which was running fine. All of a sudden we got this error unable to open file for read.. I tried to load it from the share point site in desktop and i get the same error message
not able to figure out the reason - any advise
I am having the same issues with open files from network drives. Everything was working well until yesterday.
Maybe someone is editing the file on their end and it prevents your access to the file. For files on network drives, it's good to ask people not to open the files while you're processing data, which will save a lot of issues
