Error: Error running Event #1 Failure when receiving data from peer

I am running a workflow that sends output to a SharePoint list and also an excel file. When I run the workflow with outputs enabled, I am getting the following error: 

 

The Designer x64 reported: Error running Event #1: Failure when receiving data from peer

 

I believe this is related to internet/connectivity issues. It seems that the SharePoint list is being populated and updating properly, however, it caused the excel file to corrupt. Has anyone seen this error before or can explain why this would occur? Any Explanation would be greatly appreciated.

In my experience this is a connectivity issue. 

Someone else could probably do a better job of explaining why, but I believe the last time I had this it was fixed by putting a block until done before the outputs.
