Email tool recipients list truncating emails

I’ve checked the community and found a post that’s been replied to, but I don’t think the answer is correct, or relevant.

I’m sending a list of recipients to outlook and the recipients list is being truncated at exactly 254 characters.

I put a browse tool in place of the mail tool and saved all records to analyze it further. All characters are output from the previous tool, but the email isn’t being sent to everyone. Is there something I’m missing? Why is it truncating at 254??? It would have to be a setting in the email tool or in outlook. I’ve verified that outlook accepts more characters than 254, so the culprit appears to be the mail tool.

Anyone have more information or ideas?

Could you send an email to each recipient rather than 1 email with many recipients? The email tool will send an email for each record input. You could achieve this by adding a Text to Columns tool on the recipient list field, configured with a semi-colon delimiter, and splitting to rows (then updating the email tool to use the new field).

I believe I could get that to work. Do you have any information on why this might be occurring? Is it actually truncating ? Or am I doing something wrong?

There isn't any documentation on a character limit, but from your testing it sounds like that may be the case. I would send that information to support@alteryx.com, and proceed with a workaround for the time being.

I'm experiencing a similar problem; for me the character limit appears to be 264.

Mine is also truncating at 264.  So frustrating.  Did you ever contact support or determine a work around?  It makes no sense to me why this is happening.
