Dynamic naming the file

Hi,

I learned we can output file using dynamic naming, such as add timestamp, using standard output tool. I would like to know if there's same function for render tool.

To clarify, I already use the "Group data into separate reports" function. It allows me to choose one field to group on and I can dynamically change file name of the chosen grouping field. Now I want to add another field as part of the file name. I was thinking tag along current grouping, but it doesn't seem recognize the add on field in the grouping.

@Ylin0615 there should be. In the Render tool, you'll select "Choose a Specific Output File". From there, the "Group Data Into Separate Field Reports" option becomes selectable, along with the "Field to Group On" and Modify Filename By" options.

Your Field to Group On becomes your file path that you dynamically created. Then, adjust your Render tool as such (see below). As you'll see in the use case attached, it'll render Excel files for each salesperson.

Thank you for reply. Sorry, I wasn't clear. It only allows one field, but I have another field I would like to add on as well.

I tried to tag along the field I used currently but it seems don't like it. You can see picture on my original post to see how I revise the original field used for the grouping.

Typically when working with Excel files, you are going to need to put ".xlsx|||" with the sheet name to get Alteryx to write to a specific sheet. Based on your first and second picture, it looks like the three pipes before the appended Group (re: sheet name) is not present. Hope that helps, @Ylin0615!
