Converting string (445.3K) to number

Hi,

I have a data set with values that have a format like listed below. I'd like to find a way to easily convert these to actual numbers. 

445.3K 
4.5M 

What would be the easiest way to do this?

I have done what I think you want.

You can check it and add more letters with the different values.
