Can I create a calculation that dynamically references a month/quater?

I want to create calculations the compare the current quarter's data to the previous quarter's data. Is there a way for me to set up my formulas dynamically so I don't have to update the formula with a hard coded quarter at the end of each quarter?

@giannademetroulakos you can calculate the month and quarter from your give date field and then compare
