Audit value in Update Value with formula

Hello, 

A very simple issue I think I have with a workflow, I would like to know how is it possible that my workflow is working when I run it as an "alteryx app"   but not in the normal way (with a default value in "workflow" tab) .

My point is I would like to be able to check input and output of each tool (but I am not able to do so with the "alteryx app" process.

I am sure there is a simple way but I can't find it (I'm beginner).
