After upgrade, cannot connect to server

We have 2020 Alteryx on our server presently. Though we are in the process of upgrading to 2023, that's quite a few months down the road.  I had both the 2020 and 2022 versions of designer, and could connect and download using either, but, of course, could only upload or update workflows using the 2020 Designer version for the 2020 Server.  After upgrading the 2022 Designer to 2023 to get some of the new features, I am no longer able to connect to the 2020 version for anything. The 2020 version still works. One other wrinkle is that we are building the new server on a 2023 version, but my new Alteryx will not connect to that either, even though the 2022 version did. We have hit a wall.

@ppatane General advice based on what I could understand from your statement is:

1) Version of Alteryx Designer shall be always same or older than that of Alteryx Server you want to connect

2) Though you mentioned the version like '2020', '2023', the correct format of version is like '2020.3', '2023.1'  (note 1)

Alteryx usually publishes major version twice or three times per year. In year 2023, they published major version twice: 2023.1, 2023.2.

Please note that event though they are published within the same year, 2023.1 and 2023.2 are considered different version.

Designer | Server

2023.1       2023.2 =>OK

2023.2       2023.2 =>OK

2023.2       2023.1 =>NG

*note1: actually minor version up for patch will follow like 2023.1.123... but it doesn't matter for compatibility of Designer and Server. Only major version counts.

I was able to connect 2022.2 to the 2023.2 and 2020.2 servers without issue.  I couldn't use the 2022.2 designer to do anything on the 2020.2 server other than download, but I could connect and open workflows. Now, my 2023.2 version will not connect to 2023.2 or 2020.2 servers.

@ppatane you should be able to upload to 2023.2 server though your designer version is 2023.2. You cannot connect to 2020.2 server.

Server version should always be equal to higher than designer version.

Check the server version and verify if it is up.

Putting aside not connecting to the 2020.2 server even though I could with the 2022.2 Designer, I cannot figure out why my 2023.2.1 Designer won't connect to the 2023.2.1 server.  The previous screenshot shows the error message
