Hi everyone,
I’ve begun watching interactive sessions to prepare for the core certification exam. I’m trying to practice the Alteryx challenges on my Mac, but I’m having trouble because the input files are in yxmd format, which isn’t supported by the cloud.
Apart from running my desktop on a virtual machine, are there any other alternatives for practicing the challenges in cloud?
There are cloud-specific challenges called Quests! Cloud Quests - Alteryx Community
I am at the very beginning stage of exploring Alteryx functionality and its features.I have watched "getting started" videos. I don't think cloud quests challenges are beginner friendly.
I would disagree - they will be your best opportunity to practice Designer Cloud as a publicly available resource!
Otherwise you'll need Designer Desktop to practice with .yxmd files - if you are on Mac, you'll need a virtual machine / Boot Camp: Install Alteryx for Mac
Good luck in your Alteryx journey!
I agree with Alex about the cloud quests, you can start with Quest 1 and 13, then explore from there. The yxmd files are for Desktop Designer.

Key is to get a feel for it, and then the best learning will come from working on something you understand, or care about.
