Understanding Data with Alteryx Auto Insights

Snowflake Row Level Security

Hi All

Please can someone assist with understanding how best to leverage Row Level Security which has been implemented in Snowflake. Certain users are only able ot access specific records, however, as I understand it, Auto-Insights creates reports through cached data. Please let me know if I am missing something or if someone can exlpain this in further detail. Thanks.

Hi Chris,

Auto Insights currently stores it's own copy of data from Snowflake and subsequently queries on this copy, meaning that any configured Row Level Security from Snowflake is not respected (other than any restrictions applied to the user who's credentials were used to perform the initial import).

We do have plans to integrate natively with Snowflake and other Cloud Data Platforms such that we would execute our data queries directly on the source when the user opened a Mission/Report - in this case the configured RLS restrictions applied in Snowflake would be respected for each user, however, we haven't yet committed to a timeframe.
