Got there in the end.  I had problems with the check boxes because with using in a filter ; 

("%Question.legendaries%" = "1" && [Legendary?] != "Legendary" || "%Question.legendaries%" = "0")

This did not work in the app, so I put a couple of filter tools and linked them to the check boxes
