We are excited to announce that our 2025 Q1 Indianapolis Alteryx User Group Meeting will be held at CNO in Carmel on March 13th, at 3 pm EST!
Agenda:
Bill Rosario with Data Prep U will be presenting a use case
Alteryx inspired Bingo for SWAG
There should be some time for networking and socializing after the event
This will be in the same location as the Q3 2024 meeting that was hosted by OPENLANE and will require the same procedures to get you into the building (CNO and OPENLANE are located in the same building). If you are able to attend, please register through this post. This allows us to get an idea of how many people will be attending and will also allow us to get you into the building quicker. We do have limited seating so it is important to know in advance how many are attending. When you arrive there is free parking available in several spots. There is a parking garage on the south end of the building. There is also a smaller surface lot on the west side and a larger surface lot on the north side of the building. Regardless of where you decide to park, you will need to enter the building at the northwest entrance. The reception desk is at this entrance and there will be someone to get you checked in and direct you to the room we are meeting in. For those that are attending that work in the building, you can proceed to room 105S. If you have any questions please feel free to message me directly on the Alteryx Community or reply to this post.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Q1 Indianapolis User Group Meeting hosted by CNO!
Aaron Eden kicked off the meeting by walking us through his Alteryx journey and how Alteryx changed his life.
Next, @Bill_Rosario introduced us to Data Prep U.
For the remainder of our time, we had a discussion with @Jareval1 on two use cases integrating Python with Alteryx.
Use case 1, he shared the value AI can provide in assisting your workflow development. He then used the Python code to achieve advanced Excel formatting and customization.
Use case 2, we again utilized Python to improve routing accuracy and geospatial analysis by integrating the TomTom API with Alteryx to access detailed location and mapping data.
We ended the meeting with a fun swag giveaway to lucky attendees!
With all the great information being shared, we decided to save Alteryx Bingo for Q2. If anyone is interested in hosting our next meeting, reach out to one of the User Group leaders. Looking forward to next time!
Thanks again to CNO for being a great host!

We recently hosted our 4th and final user group meeting of 2024. It is hard to believe the year has flown by so fast! For Q4 we held a virtual meeting so hopefully many of you were able to attend and found the presentations helpful. I know I learned a lot and I appreciated the different perspectives of our presenters. For those that may not have been able to attend or anyone who did attend and wants to dig into the presentations some more, here is a recap:
@Kenda kicked off the meeting welcoming everyone, made some introductions and gave us some 2024.2 Alteryx Designer release highlights. Sounds like some really cool new features in 2024.2 and I can't wait to upgrade. Kenda also discussed ACE Tricks which is a new series on youtube featuring short videos from ACEs with tips and tricks. I have watched some of these and they are great so check them out if you have a chance. Kenda is also featured in one of the videos from season 1! You can find the videos here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfSLx4WE4q51BJRW3PpXomo0A6UlPP_Xv
@rkakde, an intern and student at Indiana University, was our first presenter. Rishi's presentation was a deep dive into the find and replace tool. He showed how to use the tool to find and replace data and also how to use it as a join tool. Very interesting information on how the find and replace tool operates when duplicates are introduced. Rishi's slides also included a great visual representation of the differences between the join and find/replace tools. Lastly, Rishi gave a quick demo of a specific use case where they identified country names using the find/replace tool.
@mkeiffer, an Alteryx ACE and Data Analyst Consultant, was our second presenter. Michael's presentation focused on using Alteryx in audit and fraud detection. As an internal auditor myself, it was great to hear someone else from the audit world as passionate about Alteryx as I am. Michael explained fraud by the quote: "When good people do stupid things". I love this quote! He began with details from a couple different fraud cases he had worked on. One of the cases involved employees shipping company product to themselves. Michael showed how Alteryx could be used to "normalize" addresses using the find/replace and fuzzy match tools which allows him to identify fraudsters. Very good information and visuals for both of these tools. Here is a link to a Community training on fuzzy matching that was referenced in the presentation: https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Archived-Training/Fuzzy-Matching-Intermediate-Users/m-p/43852?advanced=false&collapse_discussion=true&filter=location&location=category:alteryx-academy&search_type=thread
Two wonderful presentations so thank you Rishi and Michael! If you would like to watch/rewatch the recording or view any of the workflows or slideshows they are attached to this post. I look forward to the Q1 2025 user group meeting (details to come...). Hope you can join us! Please feel free to reach out to any of the Indy User Group leaders (@Kenda, @patrick_digan or @Desmond) if you would like to host or present at a future meeting or have an idea for a presentation you would like to see. Happy Holidays!

Get ready for our final Indianapolis Alteryx User Group meeting of 2024!
With the holidays coming up and never knowing what the weather will bring in Indiana, we'll be hosting our Q4 meeting virtually. Although we're sad to not see everyone in person for this meeting, hosting virtually does bring one perk... we get to invite friends from around the world to join us!
We've got two great speakers lined up for this meeting. One will be friend and fellow ACE @mkeiffer! Our other presenter will be the smart and talented @rkakde!
Both will be touching and expanding upon the Find Replace tool in Alteryx, so if you've ever wanted to learn more about how this tool can enhance your workflows, this is your opportunity!
Excited to see you all (virtually) soon!
