Alteryx on a Mac

Hello Alteryx community!

I'm wondering what the best way to use Alteryx on a Mac could or would be? Off the top of my head, I'm thinking of using a Windows VM but I thought I would come here to see if there are any other creative ways forward!

Thanks in advance!

Hi @samuelcarrington1

See this Knowledge Base article: https://community.alteryx.com/t5/Alteryx-Designer-Knowledge-Base/Install-Alteryx-for-Mac/ta-p/87568

There is also now Designer Cloud that is web-based, but my understanding is it isn't totally comparable to desktop designer yet.

Haven’t tried Alteryx on Mac, but I tried installing the VM to run a version of Windows 10 and almost crashed my system. My suggestion would be to take a full backup before trying to install the VM partition.

Has anyone tried using something like Crossover with a current version of Alteryx?

I use Crossover to run some Windows apps on my M1 Mac, but I've never tried Alteryx with it because I don't have a second Alteryx license to play with.

I can’t speak to the newer M1/M2 Macs, but I’ve been using VMWare Fusion on 3 different Intel-Mac’s for several months now to run both Alteryx Designer and Alteryx server. No issues whatsoever.

Let me add to my reply: VMWare Fusion now also works on an M1 Mac. Runs both Alteryx Designer and Server with no issues. And, tested Parallels as well and seems to work fine, too.
