Accelerate with our AMP Engine

Working with large data sets? Does your workstation or server have lots of extra CPU and memory? If so, you’ll love the new Alteryx Multithreaded Processing Engine. Multithreading is a processor’s ability to run multiple threads of execution at the same time, and our new multithreaded engine aims to make maximum use of the hardware on which it runs. When you click the run button in Alteryx Designer, an engine takes your workflow inputs and runs them through every tool and building block on your canvas. Starting in 20.2, you’ll have the option to run your workflows using the new AMP engine for better performance on Alteryx Designer and Server. Where you’ll really see our AMP Engine shine is when you’re using any of the 50 building blocks that are natively multithreaded. These tools will process large data sets in your workflow faster, and will really fly if the machine you run Designer on has lots of RAM memory.

We’ll let the performance of the AMP engine speak for itself. Some of our customers involved in testing out this thrilling addition have described it as game changing, efficient, stable, and fast seeing a performance improvement up to 3X.

Learn more about our AMP Engine and discover the inner workings behind which processes run faster and how to begin leveraging it for your workflows on both Designer and Server in this blog post.
