Hi Everyone,
Recently our Dev VDI's were taken down accidently and after they were re-imaged by the application team, we are struggling to connect to the alteryx license server (please refer to the screenshot attached)
However, if we run the Alteryx Application as Administrator, we are able to establish connection with the Alteryx License server.. I was told by the users that previously (before the VDI was down) they didn't have to run the application differently.
Any suggestions on how that's possible or is it a solution ??
Hi @kaushik25101985 ,
I don`t have an answer for you, but what I can share is that this is a very specific issue that combines two tough subjects, which is ALS and non-persistent VDIs. These were always a nightmare when we had clients with these issues
We always ended up reaching out to Alteryx Support, and that is what I would suggest you do as well. Here you can find the information needed to reach out to them if you haven`t done so before. https://knowledge.alteryx.com/index/s/article/How-to-Submit-a-Customer-Support-Case-through-Mission-...

So two questions:
1) are you self-running the license server on that machine?
2) if not - can this machine reach the machine running the license server?
See
C:\Program Files\Alteryx\LicenseServer\server>flexnetls.bat -status
background - the license server CAN be run on the same machine which is being allocated the machine (one license/one server) - but Alteryx recommends that it should be a separate machine. I know because my one match against the License Server documentation was done on a standalone license server/consumer.
Can you go through the license server CLI commands to test if you have a license allocated? In my thankfully limited experience - retesting the the server was running, testing that the allocation TO the server of the license stuck and a few things like that were key. I really dug into the documentation by Flexnet - and it was rough. Flexnet is really designed to be run on Linux (TRUTH) and Alteryx mandates that it be run on Windows - so the entire thing was rough.
Also - if you are not a server client - and you request help on a license server - you will get sent to Server help/sales. It's rough.
Having taken the time to read through your situation again - is it possible that the license server is running as admin and won't allow access to non-admins? this situation sounds painful.
