Chaining of workflows

Hi,

Hope you are well.

I am trying to schedule a bunch of workflows which are dependent of each other. I have tried using the Interface designer to do so, but it seems that only 2 workflows are getting included in the Workflow Assets. Can you please help me in moving ahead. I have a total of 5 workflows to schedule and run, one after the other.

Looking ahead for a reply.

Hi @MukeshM

Have you looked at the List Runner macro in the CreW Macros?

Yes, I did use it on Desktop. But can Crew macros be used in Gallery? I saw someone mentioning it causes some issues while in Gallery

Ah ok, I see.

Here are some resources on publishing chained apps to server. You should be ok with 5 chained apps, but it depends on how long they run for. See below for details:

But I am not sure how to chain 5 apps using Interface. If you see the image I shared with the actual question, you can see only 2 other apps, but I did chain one more app to the last one, but has not been picked up in the assets.

Hi @MukeshM

Chris aka @mceleavey is the right person to help you with this problem.

Once you've set up the chain for all the apps/workflows using the Interface Designer in your Alteryx Designer, I think the secret is that you use the export functionality (Options -> Export workflow) in Designer to create a yxzp package file of the 1st workflow and then select all the other workflows as assets to include in the package. You then publish the package to your server.

I'm sure Chris can give you a more elegant answer!

Thank you so much, David.
